Local food in Ås

Dyster Gård is one of six ancient farms in Ås municipality, family-owned since 1899. The farm produces locally sourced quality beef and free-range pork; the animals graze the farm's own fields and are fed home-grown grass, grain and protein crops. Great emphasis is placed on quality throughout production, and the beef is hung to mature for optimal tenderness and flavour. In 2023 the farm opened its own on-farm abattoir and shop, where customers can buy fresh quality meat directly. Dyster Gård won Innovasjon Norge's business development prize for agriculture in Viken in 2020.

Linnestad Gård in Ås grows organic vegetables and strawberries with a love of the soil and of nature. We deliver fresh, DEBIO-certified produce straight from our own fields, and everyone is welcome to drop by the farm shop at weekends.

Community-supported agriculture scheme in Ås, established in 2014, leasing 14 mål (about 1.4 hectares) of land from Dyster Gård. Over 200 members grow vegetables together.

REKO-ringen Follo/Ås (local food pick-up network) is a Facebook-based marketplace where local food producers sell directly to consumers. Pick-up takes place about once a month in front of Ås videregående skole (upper secondary school), usually on Thursdays between 18:30 and 19:00.
