Local food in Lesja

A historic country store dating from 1878, reopened as a local food shop in 2015. Outlet for Avdem Gardsysteri, with local cheese and specialities from Gudbrandsdalen.

Avdem Gardsysteri makes cheese from fresh, unpasteurised milk from its own cows. The flavour of the products comes from lush pasture grass and fresh hay, long traditions and fine craftsmanship, and the operation runs on bioenergy produced on the farm itself. Several of the products have been awarded Spesialitet-merket (the Spesialitet label). The products are sold at Avdemsbue, a country store originally dating from 1878.

Market garden in Lesja in Innlandet run by Sofia Maria Bang Elm since 2017. Grows 40-50 vegetable varieties on 2,5 daa (decares, roughly a quarter of a hectare) without artificial fertiliser or pesticides, with a focus on soil health and regenerative agriculture. Sells through vegetable subscriptions, pick-your-own and a self-service stall (Avdemsbue).
