Grøndalen Gårdsmeieri in Nes is a family farm that has been run since the 1600s and keeps 19 Norwegian Red cows. Milk production is Debio-certified, and the calves stay with their mothers for two months after birth. In summer the cows graze on semi-natural pastures along the Glomma. The farm won Innovasjon Norge's Bygdeutviklingspris (rural development award) in 2014. It produces Nýr — a tangy fresh cheese that has taken silver at the World Cheese Awards.
